MINUTES OF THE
FUND RAISING COMMITTEE MEETING

APRIL 12, 2011

Present: Al Forler (Chair), Peter McLaren, Lynn Burnett, Zennon Gawel,
         Jim Gehl

Regrets: Vicky Theis, Bill Wilson, Ed Holterman, Jeannine Barkhouse,
         Larry Livingston, Patti Huber, Peter Fortune,  Roy Barkhouse

Al opened the meeting with a review of what he presented at the last Executive meeting.

¨       We discussed a document Al drafted regarding “Fund Raising Protocol”

o       We have a document for the Purchas Award Agreement that Peter uses every year and we will incorporate it for all purchase awards in the future.

o       We have a draft of the “Donor Agreement” for “Friends of the Canadian Nationals” that Jim Gehl will type up and forward to Al for proofing.

          We will have copies of all the final drafts for the next meeting.

 

¨       We also talked about providing tax receipts for the portion of our yearly membership fees that we do not receive anything for, e.g.  blanks, eyes etc.

¨       There was also discussion to encourage the members to possibly make cash donations to the club for a tax receipt.

¨       We brainstormed for ideas of possible donors:

§        Bank of Montreal – Peter will look into this

§        Coldwell Banker – Jim Gehl

§        Shell oil -    Possibly Rick Hook’s son in-law

§        Bass Pro Shops – Zennon

§        Shooters Choice Waterloo – Jim Gehl

§        Other sports clubs or supply stores – anyone???

 

•  If anyone has any other suggestion for possible donors or sponsors, please  contact Al Forler.

• We discussed the facts about our club and the things we are involved with and the reasons we need to fund raise.

o       This was all discussed in detail for each item and a new draft will be done by Al Forler for our next meeting.

o       There will be a Portfolio with attachments to this document talking about:

·        Sponsor Awards

·        Best of Show

·        Club Members

·        Judges

·        Club displays

·        Carving Demo

·        Facts sheet

·        Photo portfolio

·        Community involvement – (Museums and other community events and displays)

  NOTE:

¨       We will require more of the Board to get involved with this project along with other members.
