2009 PURCHASE AWARDS

 

The four purchase awards which are being offered in the 2009 Canadian National Wildfowl Carving Championship are:

 

DON HAYCOCK SPONSOR AWARD
 

Subject: Decorative Life-Size Floating COMMON GOLDENEYE DRAKE
Decorative, life-size, floating, flat bottom and painted in breeding plumage.
The Purchase Award is $4,000.00 (Canadian), plus a Rosette Ribbon.
 

M & T PRINTING GROUP SPONSOR AWARD
 

Subject: Decorative Life-Size Red Morph EASTERN SCREECH-OWL

Decorative, life-size, textured, and painted in full breeding plumage and mounted on a base.  No prey is to be included in the habitat at the request of the sponsor.
The Purchase Award is $2,500.00 (Canadian), plus a Rosette Ribbon.
 

ONTARIO DIE COMPANY SPONSOR AWARD
 

Subject: Decorative Life-Size MALE INDIGO BUNTING

Decorative, life-size, textured, and painted in full breeding plumage and mounted on a base. 
The Purchase Award is $1,900.00 (Canadian), plus a Rosette Ribbon.
 

RUBBERLINE PRODUCTS LIMITED  SPONSOR AWARD
 

Subject: Decorative Life-Size MALE AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVER

Decorative, life-size, textured, and painted in full breeding plumage and mounted on a base.
The Purchase Award is $1,900.00 (Canadian), plus a Rosette Ribbon. 
 

PURCHASE AWARD RULES:
 

1) Open to all carvers.

2) Cash prizes of $150.00 and $75.00 (Canadian) will be awarded to the second and third place carvings respectively.

3) Carvings are to be life-size, in breeding plumage.

4) Carvings, including the pattern and habitat, must be the original concept and design of the carver.

5) All entries are to be fully textured and painted to the highest ability of the artist.

6) Judging will be based on accuracy, artistry, creativity, essence of the species and quality of carving.

7) Permission is granted to show winners to compete at "The Worlds".

8) Entry Fee: See ENTRY FEES (above) or obtain an Entry Form.

9) The General Rules, Regulations, and Entry procedures for the Open Class apply.

 

While the purchase awards are open to all carvers, they are intended only for those carvers whose work has reached a VERY high level of expertise.

To assure the purchase award sponsor of a very high quality carving, a first place award will only be awarded at the discretion of the judges. The same restriction applies to the awarding of the second and third place awards in the purchase award categories.
